‘Novak Djokovic wants to break all the records’, says former No.1

Former doubles world number 3 Rohan Bopanna calls on tennis players to support Novak Djokovic and back the PTPA. In 2019, Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil co-founded the PTPA as their main goal was to have an organization that would guarantee better conditions and rights for ATP and WTA players.

Djokovic’s PTPA was not received at all well by the ATP, as ATP CEO and Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi openly criticized the organization. “I am proud to be part of the Professional Tennis Association, the PTPA. I really think it’s a need of the hour.

We as current professional tennis players need to have one voice to really push for more transparency, more opportunities, not only for us as tennis players who are currently playing, but also for future generations of tennis players.

We have to believe in the power of our voices and together we can make this change better for our sport. So let’s all get out there and support the PTPA to really be that voice to make a difference in our sport and bring about the change that is really going to benefit all of us professional tennis players.

Thank you PTPA for helping us all,” Bopanna stated, according to Sportskeeda. Just before the start of this year’s Australian Open, the PTPA broke big news: it announced its first PTPA committee. On the committee, there are several familiar names such as Djokovic, Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa, Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner.

Also on the Pospisil committee are Saisai Zheng and Bethanie Mattek-Sands. “This organization was founded on the belief that every player should be respected, protected and guaranteed their rights, and the PTPA Principles will serve as our compass to ensure we adhere to those standards.

The PTPA will only thrive through the collective voice and the strength and solidarity of the players. We are prepared to face both the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead to advance the rights of all players,” Pospisil stated in the announcement.

Borg comments on Djokovic

Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg has showered praise on Rafael Nadal for his “unbelievable” commitment to the sport. He also conveyed his best wishes to Novak Djokovic for his future endeavors. “Djokovic is fit and he’s eager to play.

He has three to five more very good years of tennis in him. He wants to break all the records and set new records. I think he’ll win a few more Grand Slams. I wish him the best,” he added.
