Draymond Green vows to keep playing after ankle roll in Warriors-Bucks

Despite the concerning scene at Chase Center on Saturday night, Draymond Green says his ankle will be fine after he rolled it during the third quarter of the Warriors’ 125-116 overtime win against the Milwaukee Bucks.

And as Golden State makes a push for the NBA playoffs, the veteran forward won’t let any soreness keep him off the court.

“It’s sore, but it’s to be expected,” Green said postgame. “I think I stepped on [Bucks guard Jrue Holiday‘s] foot and just rolled it. But I was running down the lane, I saw an opening to the rim. Jrue kind of stepped in and [I] stepped on his foot.

“But it’s just an ankle roll. I’ll be all right.”

Green went to the locker room with Warriors trainer Rick Celebrini after the injury but returned to the bench shortly after. He came back into the game and still was able to make an impact, nearly hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater at the end of regulation.

“I worry a little bit about how he’ll feel tomorrow,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the win. “You know, he may have been playing on adrenaline tonight. I was not at all surprised that he came back because that’s who Draymond is.

“So, hopefully, it’s not too bad. We’ll see tonight.”

Golden State improved to 35-33 on the season after Saturday’s overtime win and holds the Western Conference’s No. 6 seed as of Sunday morning. They’ll face the Kevin Durant-less Phoenix Suns on Monday at Chase Center, and Green said there’s no way he’ll miss the game.

“It will be pretty sore tomorrow, for sure. Ain’t nothing a few anti-inflammatories can’t handle,” Green said. “I 100 percent expect to play. We’re not in the position to be missing no games. Just got to tape it up and figure it out.

“But I’ll be all right.”
