‘An absolute mismatch’ – Tony Bellew discusses potential fights with Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou for Tyson Fury

Tony Bellew believes there is nothing left for Tyson Fury in boxing in terms of achievements if he beats Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury’s next fight, while the contracts have not yet been signed, looks increasingly likely to be against Usyk on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.

Fury and Usyk went back and forth on social media, but the WBA have now confirmed the fight has been agreed

After months of drawn out negotiations, the WBA have revealed that the fight has been agreed.

That came after Usyk accepted Fury’s demand of a 70/30 split on the condition that ‘The Gypsy King’ donates £1million to the people of Ukraine who are currently fighting against Russian invasion.

Former WBC cruiserweight world champion, Bellew, who is also a previous opponent of Usyk, believes the Ukrainian will win the fight.

But, when asked what is left for Fury should he win, Bellew told talkSPORT: “He’s always going to want the Joshua one because it will be the biggest payday of his whole life, so he’s always going to want that fight.

“But, is there anything left in the sport to achieve if he beats Oleksandr Usyk? Absolutely not.

“I’ve heard about the freak shows that he wants to face Francis Ngannou. That would be an absolute mismatch, that’s a joke.

“He’s a former UFC heavyweight champion, that cannot be seen to be happening, so it’s Oleksandr Usyk or nobody else.”

Fury, however, has repeatedly claimed there is no chance of him fighting Joshua in the future, as he said in an interview with SPORTbible: “I don’t even [want to] go there anymore.

“Finished. No interest in any AJ questions. Zero. Man’s dead in my eyes.

“There’s no business between me and him to be done. Finished.

“From 2017 to, however long it’s been, 2022 – trying to make a fight. So, it’s not happening.”

On the other hand, Fury has expressed interest in a clash with Ngannou, but for the time being, it looks more likely that the former UFC heavyweight champion will take on Deontay Wilder next.
