Mark Sears announces return to Alabama, withdraws name from NBA draft

After just one season with the Crimson Tide, rising senior guard Mark Sears announced that he would be entering his name into the 2023 NBA draft while maintaining college eligibility. He recently announced that he will be withdrawing from the draft to return to Alabama.

Basketball, unlike football, allows for players to enter the draft with the opportunity to return to the collegiate level. This is often done to give players interested in going to the league an idea of where they stand in the eyes of NBA scouts.

Sears transferred into Alabama after the 2021-2022 season and was a major contributor. He averaged 12.5 points per game, almost four rebounds per game and nearly three assists per game. The stats don’t reflect the impact he had when on the court for the Crimson Tide.

He made his announcement via a video shared to Twitter.
