Whoever gets Connor Bedard in the 2023 NHL draft will be a very happy franchise. The Regina Pats forward, who will most likely go No. 1 overall next summer, put on a show once again, this time with a snapper against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday in their 8-2 win.
Bedard not only leads the WHL in points with 64, but he also leads the league in goals, even strength points, power-play points, and shots (with 50 more than second place). His current point streak started on Sept. 24 and has lasted 27 games after being held off the board in the season opener. Get a ticket while you can to watch him in the CHL and you won’t be disappointed.
Nurse Has A Laugh at the Expense of Darnell
As pointed out by TSN’s Kate Beirness, very rarely would you ever see a mention of the NHL on a Toronto Raptors broadcast, but you have to bring up Darnell Nurse’s post-goal celebration going awry with his sister and WNBA star Kia Nurse working as a Raptors analyst to get her take on it.
No matter how big you get, after taking a spill mid-celebration on national television, it should be expected that those closest to you will have some jokes ready to fire off.
London Hoilett: Teddy Bear Toss Hero
One of the best parts of December in hockey easily has to be when teams around the sport take part in the teddy bear toss games, which helps various charities give toys to kids who need them the most.
The Calgary Hitmen are always one of the leaders in this game, and once again, we saw a hearty amount of toys hit the Scotiabank Saddledome ice during the annual game. This time, Hitmen rookie London Hoilett had the honor of scoring the goal against the Moose Jaw Warriors to send the bears flying.
After scoring the goal that sent over 20,000 bears flying, it was only right to let the man pose with the bears and puck.
How can you not smile at a tradition that has become one of the more heartwarming parts of the hockey calendar for decades?
