Chelsea star Mason Mount agrees personal terms with Manchester United as Red Devils prepare formal offer


Mason Mount is edging closer to joining Manchester United from Chelsea after agreeing personal terms, talkSPORT understands.

talkSPORT revealed last week how the Red Devils were keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool were also interested in the 24-year-old, but the England international has decided to make the move to the Red Devils.

United are now set to make a formal offer to sign Mount as they look to agree a fee with Chelsea.

The west Londoners, who are open to selling the midfielder with his contract to expire in 2024, are said to value him at £80million.

But it’s previously been reported Erik ten hag’s side are believed to be prepared to offer around £50m.

Academy graduate Mount was consoled by teammate Ben Chilwell during the lap of honour on Sunday after the 1-1 draw against Newcastle.

Mount looked emotional as he applauded his adoring fans at Stamford Bridge.

His final appearance of the season came on April 18 where he played just 13 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.

A pelvic injury has kept him on the sidelines, but that hasn’t stopped United from looking to secure his services.

Ten Hag recently urged the United board to bring in ‘better players’ as he pleaded for reinforcements.

Chelsea look set to offload a number of high-profile players, after giving permission for Mateo Kovacic to speak to Manchester City.

Shock discussions have taken place, with Kovacic and the Citizens holding positive talks regarding personal terms.

Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is yet to agree a new contract as fears grow from fans that he will leaving in the coming weeks.

Chelsea are already looking at what midfielders they could bring in, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte two known targets.
