Hard blow for Adrian Otaegui! According to The Telegraph, the 30-year-old Spaniard has been banned from competing on the DP World Tour for a period of one month from the Porsche European Open this week in Hamburg (Germany).

The one who is trained by the French Olivier Léglise pays very dearly here for his appearances on the LIV Golf during the 2022 season.

The quadruple winner on the European Tour, winner last October in Valderrama of the Andalucia Masters, had indeed taken part in four tournaments of the Tour created a year ago by Greg Norman and supported by the Public Investment Fund (PIF ) from Saudi Arabia.

In addition to this sporting sanction, the Basque also had to pay a heavy fine of 300,000 euros (240,000 pounds). It’s a real setback for Otaegui, second at the KLM Open last weekend, who will not be able to play again before Made in Himmerland, Denmark, scheduled for July 6-9.

Sixth in the Ryder Cup points standings, the idea of joining Rome at the end of September is also getting further and further away. Contacted by The Telegraph, the management of the DP World Tour did not wish to comment on this sanction imposed on the Spanish golfer…

Recall that on May 11, this same DP World Tour had unveiled via a press release a list of sanctions against players who are members of the European Tour having played on the LIV Golf in 2022… In 2009 he played for Spain in the ELTK at de Pan.

In 2010 he was 2nd in the Coupe Mural and 3rd in the Brabazon Trophy. On August 14, 2010, he won the British Boys Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club in Scotland. In the final he beat Max Rottluff from Germany 4&3.

After this he was named Boys Golfer of the Year. Other Spanish players who won this championship were José María Olazabal (1983), Sergio Garcia (1997), Alfonso Gutierrez (1999), Pablo Martín (2001) and Emilio Cuartero (2007).

Two weeks later he played in the continental team at the Jacques Leglise Trophy at Castelconturbia Golf Club in Castelcovati in Italy. In May 2011 he is ranked number 35 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
