Arnaut Danjuma’s agent says he ‘loved’ being abused by 40,000 Everton fans with Tottenham

Arnaut Danjuma loved being abused by 40,000 Everton fans last term and is looking forward to life at Goodison Park.

The winger completed a loan move to the Toffees this summer, six months after a move to Merseyside fell through at the eleventh hour.

Danjuma, who is contracted to Villarreal, was set to move to Everton before Tottenham entered the race and ultimately tempted him to north London.

However, his time with Spurs didn’t go well, starting just one game out of 12 appearances for the club.

With a move to Everton now completed, Danjuma faces the prospect of meeting the supporters whom he rejected when he moved to Tottenham, but according to his agent Michael-Moses Jarman, Danjuma will be relishing the chance to come face to face with those fans.

Asked if he’s ready for a potentially hostile reception from Everton supporters, “Oh, he’s a nutcase, Danjuma.

“He was playing against Everton [last season], he was on the bench but warming up in the corner. A goal went in, 86th minute, I think it was Michael Keane who scored.

“He called me up after and said, ‘Mike, it felt like 40,000 people were screaming in my ear’, they were just hurling abuse at him.

“He was like, ‘I love it, this is a club!’

“So he’s actually looking back and he’s being saying to me that it’s second time lucky for him, you know?”

Asked about his failed move to Everton, Jarman said: “The January debacle? The situation wasn’t a great situation how it ended, but we kept conversations very much afloat, knowing fully well that he would probably need another loan if he didn’t get the game time that we thought he might get at Spurs.

“He was supposed to go to Everton.

“They were leading the conversation right up until the point manager got sacked and then out of nowhere, 11th hour, 59th minute, Tottenham called and usurped everything and we made a snapshot decision to change course in terms of the direction as to where he went for that period, for that six months.”
