Nick Kyrgios seemingly has never heard of some of the players competing in this year’s Umag player field. On Friday, Australia’s Alexei Popyrin defeated rising Croatian star Dino Prizmic 7-6 (2) 7-5. Following his win over Prizmic, Popyrin set up an Umag semifinal meeting against another rising star, Matteo Arnaldi.Australian tennis media member Craig Gabriel tweeted: “Alexei Popyrin into Umag semis with 76 75 win over Dino Prizmic and plays Matteo Arnaldi.” Kyrgios replied to Gabriel’s tweet by asking: “Who are some of these players haha.”

Kyrgios says the Tour ‘will be better’ when he is back

A few days ago, Kyrgios held a Q&A session on Instagram and one fan wanted to know how he was feeling about Rafael Nadal targeting to return to tennis in 2024.“The tour will be better when we are both back,” Kyrgios wrote on Instagram. The 2023 season has been extremely challenging and tough for Kyrgios, who has appeared in just one tournament and one ATP match this year.

After returning from knee surgery and kicking off his 2023 season in Stuttgart, Kyrgios suffered an injury to his wrist ligament. The wrist injury forced Kyrgios to miss Wimbledon.“Hey everyone, I’m really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year.

I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again. During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during the week of Mallorca. As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist.

I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon. I’ll be back, and as always, I appreciate the support from all my fans,” Kyrgios announced just before the start of Wimbledon. After Wimbledon, Kyrgios will also be out of the Citi Open in Washington.
