Anthony Joshua fakes back injury as he gives bizarre response to Deontay Wilder question after Robert Helenius KO

Anthony Joshua gave a peculiar response when asked about a potential future clash with Deontay Wilder.

This came after he KO’d Robert Helenius in spectacular fashion in the seventh round of their fight on Saturday night.

This will likely see Joshua move on to a huge fight against Wilder in Saudi Arabia early next year, for which talks are already advanced.

But, when asked about a bout with Wilder in his post-fight interview, Joshua pretended he had hurt his back and said: “My back. Is there a doctor in here? My back’s gone.

Before adding: “Because I’ve been carrying the heavyweight division.”

And Hearn commented on this in the post-fight press conference, as he said that Joshua may be speaking the truth.

He explained that Wilder hasn’t fought since October last year, Tyson Fury’s last bout came against Derek Chisora and now he is taking on an MMA fighter in Francis Ngannou and Oleksandr Usyk is arguably not as big a draw as the other elite heavyweights.

Hearn also went on to comment on how he sees a fight between Joshua and Wilder going, as he said: : “I think he can beat Deontay Wilder comfortably, but he can also get beaten by Deontay Wilder.

“I’ve always felt AJ can outbox Deontay Wilder.

“If he lands the right hand on Wilder like that, the fight’s over.”
