Nick Kyrgios recounts his dark days, shares reminder to all people

Nick Kyrgios is encouraging people to be kind as one simple nice gesture can mean the world to someone who is struggling with mental health issues. Kyrgios, 28, was going through a really dark period a couple of years ago. At the time, Kyrgios was dealing with major depression and he turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with his pain.

Also, Kyrgios was self-harming and suicidal at the time. But with the help of those around him, Kyrgios sought professional help and found the light at the end of the tunnel. “I look back on the days when all I had were dark thoughts.

I appreciate everyone who stood by me in that period, every single day I have now is a blessing. Let this be a reminder, something small you do for someone, can change their life,” Kyrgios captioned his Instagram post.

Kyrgios told his story last year

Last year, Kyrgios shared a picture of himself taken during the 2019 Australian Open.

In the picture, Kyrgios could be seen having a scar on his arm. In a lengthy Instagram post, Kyrgios opened up about the time he was battling major depression.“Most would assume I was doing OK mentally or enjoying my life …

it was one of my darkest periods. If you look closely, on my right arm you can see my self-harm. I was having suicidal thoughts and was literally struggling to get out of bed, let alone play in front of millions. I was lonely, depressed, negative, abusing alcohol, drugs, pushed away family and friends.

I felt as if I couldn’t talk or trust anyone. This was a result of not opening up and refusing to lean on my loved ones and simply just push myself little by little to be positive. I know that day to day life can seem extremely exhausting, impossible at times.

I understand that you feel if you open up it may make you feel weak, or scared. I’m telling you right now, it’s OK, you are not alone. I’ve been through those times when it seemed,” Kyrgios wrote in an Instagram post in 2022 February.
