Simona Halep went on a vacation to Greece after being hit with bad news this week. On Thursday, former world No 1 Halep announced that the outcome of her anti-doping hearing has been delayed. Instead of receiving her verdict this week and potentially being allowed to return to tennis, Halep remains banned and will have to wait a bit more to hear the outcome of her case.

But Halep isn’t letting the news devastate her or anything like that. “When life gives you a hundred reasons to break down and cry, show life that you have a million reasons to smile and laugh,” Halep captioned her Instagram Story.

Halep goes to Greece after the latest news in her doping case

On Thursday, Halep took to her Instagram to share the latest news that she described as “terribly disappointing.” “Today I found out that the decision in my case which was expected this week, will be further delayed.

This is terribly disappointing, as I have constantly said that all I ask for is to be judged. It is hard to explain the emotional toll that all of these delays have had and continue to have on me,” Halep announced this week.

After Halep’s announcement, coach Darren Cahill – who guided the Romanian to two Grand Slam titles – ripped the ITIA over their handling of the case. “Another delay. The details of this case will eventually come to light but regardless of the outcome, this process has been handled appallingly by the ITF & ITIA.

Zero care or concern for the athlete or her well-being with this case dragging on for nearly 12-months and still no judgement or resolution. I respect our testing program and a fair process but this has been anything but fair.

Simona deserves the right to get on with her career and/or her life. At the moment she can do neither. No player should ever have to go through a process of delays like this again. The WTA, the board and the player council need to do better to ensure the players have some protection and rights to a quicker resolution. At the moment, they have none,” Cahill said in a message posted on his Instagram Story.
