Vampire Milkshake – A Beautiful Mess

Spooky season is my favorite season of them all! Today, let’s celebrate with a Vampire Milkshake! It’s strawberry, it has fake blood and plastic vampire teeth … are you in? I have a lot of room in my heart for novelty recipes and this vampire-themed milkshake is exactly the kind of silly fun I need right now. Now, who wants to rewatch Twilight with me? *Entire room raises hands.*

Ingredients in a Strawberry Vampire Milkshake

  • Vanilla Ice Cream – Creamy vanilla ice cream is the perfect milkshake base.
  • Strawberry Syrup – This will flavor your ice cream as well as turn it pink.
  • Milk – You can use whatever type of milk you have on hand.
  • Red Gel Icing – The optimal bright red vampire blood (trust me). Bonus points for sparkle gel.
  • Whipped Cream – The usual!
  • Sprinkles – Red or black to stay on theme.
  • Maraschino Cherry – The bright red kind!
  • Note: I also used white chocolate syrup to garnish the inside of my glass, but as you can see in the photos it didn’t make a big impact visually, so you can skip that if you want to.

You will also need some plastic vampire teeth if you want to go all in (and obviously you do or you wouldn’t be here). These are the milkshake glasses and paper straws I used.

Directions

In a blender, mix ice cream, strawberry syrup and milk. Add a drop of red food coloring if you want a super intense pink.

Pour your milkshake into two glasses.

Use gel icing to create a blood-inspired rim. This icing has pretty good body and will stay in place pretty well for you!

After the blood rim is complete, add a little whipped cream to the top of your milkshake and some sprinkles and a cherry. Serve immediately with a straw and a spoon. Enjoy!!

Tips for Making

  • The gel icing is perfect for the rim as it stays in place well. I have tried this with strawberry syrup and it was much too runny.
  • If you don’t have a set of milkshake glasses, they are great for milkshakes, smoothies and classic soda drinks—like a root beer float.
  • Another fun garnish idea for this drink would be candy vampire teeth.
