Emma Raducanu took to Instagram to reveal that her right hand is full of blisters and jokingly described it as a welcome back to tennis thing. After undergoing three surgeries in May, Raducanu has been back on the practice court for quite some time.

But as the 2024 season is approaching, Raducanu is seemingly starting to increase the intensity of her practices. Dealing with blisters is a pretty common thing in tennis. “Welcome back,” Raducanu captioned her Instagram Story.

Raducanu will be in a better place to compete when she returns

2021 US Open champion Raducanu was dealing with wrist and ankle injuries for quite some time before deciding to end her agony and address the injuries with surgery.

In early May, the Briton had surgeries on both wrists and her right ankle. Raducanu missed the rest of the 2023 season, with her goal being fully healthy and ready in 2024. Last month, Raducanu shared a very positive update, revealing that she will definitely be in a better place to compete than before her surgeries.

“It was difficult to train after the surgeries, so it was very sedentary in the beginning. Through the whole period, I’ve been doing a lot off court, reading a lot and watching some tennis. Mentally, I feel like I’m in a better place to compete now than I ever have been before since the US Open.

I’m hoping to get back on board for next season. I know it’s going to be difficult when you haven’t competed for a long time, like almost a year. It’s going to probably take me some tournaments to get up to speed.

But, once I do, I think I’m in a better headspace to compete now,” Raducanu said on Amazon Prime in November. Meanwhile, Raducanu entered the Australian Open via a protected ranking. As it stands now, Raducanu will have to play in the Australian Open qualifying or wait for a wildcard or a couple of player withdrawals.
