Serena Williams’ ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou thinks Emma Raducanu must find “stability” in her return to tennis or otherwise she will probably never manage to fulfill her potential to the fullest. Raducanu, who turned 21 last month, started her career on the best possible way as she was just 18 when she won the US Open.

But since then, Raducanu hasn’t won any titles as she has been mostly struggling with injuries, which negatively impacted her form and results. Also, Raducanu has worked with four different coaches since the 2021 US Open. Raducanu, who underwent three surgeries in May, is returning at the start of the 2024 season but she has yet to announce who will be her coach for 2024.

“I know that Raducanu is coming back which is great news for British tennis. She has suffered a lot both in her tennis, in her results and after that with injuries but I hope she can find some stability around her because without stability she’s not going to be able to achieve her potential and that would be sad.

Let’s hope that she can stay injury free at the start of the season and that she can find someone who can help her fall in love with the game and tennis again for her future,” Mouratoglou told Sky Sports.

Mouratoglou on if he would coach Raducanu

Mouratoglou, who famously worked with Williams for a decade, also worked with Simona Halep, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas in recent years.

Mouratoglou is widely considered one of the best in the coaching business and some believe Raducanu needs a superstar coach. When asked if he would be open to working with Raducanu, Mouratoglou admitted he is unsure at the moment but suggested that he may be open if the Briton promised him she would trust his coaching.

“I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it but all I can say is is she ready to trust someone? Can she trust a project and to follow that project for long enough to be able to make real progress that she needs to do in order to achieve her potential? What hurt her so much is all those changes because you cannot change your tennis project every three months, it doesn’t make sense,” Mouratoglou said.
