“It’s hard to describe this moment”

With a heartbreaking post, Diego Schwartzman analyzed his negative moment, which has been dragging on for months. After yet another defeat in the first round of a tournament, the Argentine tennis player wanted to speak heart-to-heart with his fans, describing his feelings.

The 31-year-old was defeated in the first round of the ATP tournament in Buenos Aires by Colombian Daniel Galan with a score of 2-6 6-1 6-4. Last week, in Cordoba, Diego was eliminated by countryman Burruchaga, while at the Australian Open he didn’t even get through the qualifiers.

Schwartzman, in the post, underlined the complicated moment he is experiencing and, from his words, there almost seems to be an evaluation with a view to a possible retirement, not too far away in time, if there were not a reversal of trend compared to the current progress of his career. The Argentine player’s best career result in a Slam was a semifinal at the Roland Garros in 2020, in which he lost to Rafael Nadal.

Diegi Schwartzman’s difficult moment

“It’s difficult to describe the sporting moment I’m experiencing. Weeks go by and the answers on the field don’t arrive. I want to thank all the people from the bottom of my heart, he continued, they don’t know how beautiful it is and what it means to feel accompanied and encouraged in this moment both inside than off the court.

There will always be negative criticism, but it is part of sport and must be addressed. From an early age I was taught to lift my head and keep trying. With humility, work, education and respect I will continue in that search. And if things don’t work out, I’ll be able to look back and be more than satisfied with what I accomplished and the people I always had by my side,” he explained.
