Hubert Hurkacz issues some major praise on Iga Swiatek, hailing fellow Pole’s success as “remarkable” and applauding her for making tennis more popular in their country.

Swiatek, who will be turning 23 in late May, has already won 18 titles and four of those titles have come at the Grand Slam level. Also, Swiatek won her first WTA Finals title last year and she has already won on every level except the Olympics – but that could change this year since she will be among the top favorites for the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

“Iga Swiatek is such an amazing person and a tennis player. It’s remarkable what she has achieved in her career. She is still so young,” Hurkacz told the Khaleej Times

Hurkacz hopes he and Swiatek can continue to be a positive influence

Hurkacz, 27, has also achieved some notable results so far in his career as he is a seven-time ATP champion and he is also currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 8 in the world. Hurkacz has two Masters titles in his collection and he also reached his first and lone Grand Slam semifinal at 2022 Wimbledon.

In Hurkacz and Swiatek, Poland has two top-10 players and two stars. Because of their success, tennis became more popular in Poland and more kids are interested in playing the game. Hurkacz hopes she and Swiatek will only continue being a positive influence on Polish youth.

“We are hoping that our passion for tennis will inspire more and more young kids in Poland. I hope they will continue to enjoy this beautiful sport,” Hurkacz said.

Meanwhile, Hurkacz is competing at his week’s ATP 500 event in Dubai, where he reached the semifinal in 2022.

Last week, Swiatek also competed in Dubai as she made the semifinal before losing to Anna Kalinskaya.

It remains to be seen if after Swiatek, Hurkacz can also make a deep Dubai run.
