Scott Brown’s odyssey, two cuts in four days

Embarked in the Bahamas on the Korn Ferry Tour (the second American division), Scott Brown finally gave up after having passed the cut on Monday, to join California and start the Farmers Insurance Open on Wednesday, to pass a second cut in the same week.

Scott Brown, results

Scott Brown is obviously ready to do anything to regain full playing rights on the PGA Tour. The 39-year-old American was on board a Korn Ferry Tour tournament which exceptionally started on a Sunday.

After crossing the cut on Monday, the winner of the Puerto Rico Open 2013 learned that he was entering the field of the Farmers Insurance Open after John Huh’s withdrawal. Problem, the Abaco Classic was played… in the Bahamas, 4,000 kilometers from San Diego!

No problem for Brown who preferred to give up (he was 34th after two laps) to take off Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. “I would have stayed if I was in the top 10, he admitted, but since I didn’t play that well on Monday, I preferred to go to Torrey Pines.

And since there is only one daily flight at 2:30 p.m., I had to wait until Tuesday to leave. » Bad luck, the Torrey Pines tournament exceptionally starts on a Wednesday (just to make things even more difficult!). An arrival Tuesday at 9:00 p.m.

and a night with his pal Scott Stallings later, no time to do reconnaissance for the one who has limited playing rights thanks to his victory in Puerto Rico… almost ten years ago. But with a ninth place in 2019 and eight participations already, he knows the pitfalls of both courses.

Not really helped by the organizers (Scott Brown left at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, in the first part!), the native of Augusta still made the cut… narrowly. A second cut in four days which is a real feat after a journey of 4,000 kilometers and an arrival twelve hours before departure!
