Ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan confused Frank de Boer with twin brother Ronald in World Cup chat, Jim White reveals

It can sometimes be difficult to set twins apart, and that is something that Simon Jordan recently found out.

The former owner of Crystal Palace thought he was having a conversation with Frank de Boer but had a case of mistaken identity, as it turns out he was talking to his brother Ronald.

Frank was appointed as the Palace manager back in the summer of 2017 as their replacement for Sam Allardyce.

However, the former Ajax and Barcelona star was sacked after just five matches at Selhurst Park.

Whilst in Doha for the World Cup, Jordan was back to playing paddle tennis with some of the game’s former stars, but he soon found himself confused as to which one of the famous De Boer brothers he was talking to.

Jim White jokingly revealed on talkSPORT: “Interestingly, guys I want you to know this, Simon had a very interesting conversation with one of the De Boer twins.

“Simon thought it was Frank de Boer, and he was talking to Frank, as he thought, about his [five] games in charge of that ill-fated time at Crystal Palace.

“It turned out, it was Ronald de Boer, who was heck of a nice to him and didn’t mention that he got the wrong identical twin!”

They both had very similar careers, and the brothers shared the pitch together 387 times during their spells at Ajax, Rangers, Barcelona and the Netherlands.

Ronald has had a little dip into management but is not as well travelled as Frank on that front, so a difference can certainly be made between the two.

While it may have been a simple mistake from Jordan, the next time he comes across one half of twins, he might want to double check their identity.
