‘The next Jadon Sancho’ gives shout-out to Marcus Rashford after copying his celebration as Borussia Dortmund’s latest English superstar, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, scores stunner

Borussia Dortmund’s latest English sensation, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, has given a shout-out to Marcus Rashford after his latest heroics.

The London-born 18-year-old, dubbed ‘the next Jadon Sancho’ continued his ride to stardom with a stunning goal in a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Bynoe-Gittens was a second-half substitute with the Bundesliga title challengers struggling to break the deadlock, and he did exactly that, one minute and nine seconds after coming on.

Exchanging passes with Nico Schlotterbeck, the youngster caught out Werder’s goalkeeper Jii Pavlenka by blasting into the near post with an unstoppable effort off his weaker left foot, and he then pointed to his head.

Asked by ESPN what the celebration was about post-match, he said: “I’ve seen Rashford do it a lot of times this season, so yeah, shout out to Rashford today.”

That will come as a surprise given his playing history, with Bynoe-Gittens a former Manchester City academy star.

And if that sounds familiar – moving from Man City to Dortmund – that’s because Sancho did exactly that, before becoming a certified superstar in Germany.

The winger also showed he wasn’t City through and through, as he ended up joining United in a £73million deal in 2021.

The similarities are there for all to see though, with Bynoe-Gittens a similarly tricky winger with a deadly right foot.

The goal was his third of the season off the bench, as he continues to force his way into Edin Terzic’s plans.

Asked post-match who’s helped him settle in so well, he said: “I think everyone really, especially Jude [Bellingham] because he’s a year above me.

“He is! [very stern]. On the pitch he’s very tough but off the pitch he just chills with me, we chat and make jokes and he’s a really good guy.”

Bellingham was similarly impressive in the match, as he continues to put in world class performances ahead of a much-anticipated summer move.

Terzic couldn’t do enough to praise the 19-year-old post-match, saying: “He is outstanding and has no limits. He is the eldest 19-year-old in the world.”

Next up for Dortmund is Chelsea in the Champions League, another of Bynoe-Gittens’ former teams.

More often than not that theme doesn’t work out too well for the Blues…
