Antonio Conte makes admission about future as Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham boss deserves stick after defeat to AC Milan and says Clement Lenglet is ‘like an imposter’

Jamie O’Hara blew his top at Tottenham’s performance and took swipes at Antonio Conte and the players.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 by AC Milan at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with former Manchester City winger Brahim Diaz scoring the only goal of the game.

AC Milan have a one-goal lead over Spurs going into the second leg on March 8

However, it could have been much worse after Conte named rookie pairing Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr in midfield while Cristian Romero might consider himself lucky not to get sent off.

With just a goal between them, Tottenham are not out of the tie entirely and will fancy themselves in the second leg after neither side impressed.

But O’Hara has seen enough and tore into Conte and half the squad, branding the performance ‘absolutely shocking’ and taking shots at Heung-min Son, Ivan Perisic, Dejan Kulusevski, Clement Lenglet and even Harry Kane.

Speaking on The Sports Bar alongside Jason Cundy, the ex-Spurs midfielder said: “We got away with it to a certain degree by the fact that we walked away from the San Siro 1-0 down.

“It was a bang-average performance, though, let’s be honest. I am getting sick of watching this rubbish.

“Let’s not forget, we are a Champions League team, we were in it last year and were playing some good football.

“What I am seeing from some of them recently is absolutely shocking. Son tonight, what has happened to Son?

“He is so far off the boil, it is a joke. Kulusevski has not been at it at all. Romero is lucky he didn’t get sent off again.

“It is a sorry state of affairs when you are looking at Sarr and Skipp who have come into the team and they are the best players in the team, what does that say about the rest of them?

“When you’ve got players like Perisic, Son, Kulusevski, Romero, Kane. Lenglet, who we got from Barcelona, he is like an imposter.

“I have backed Conte but I actually think he has got to come in for a bit of stick now.

“He is putting out these performances, he is churning out these tactics. Don’t get me started on Daniel Levy…”

While Tottenham have not had the best of seasons, Kane has still been rattling in goals to keep them in contention for a top four spot. But on Tuesday night, even the club’s record goalscorer could not make an impact.

In fact, the England captain lost possession more times (24) than any other player on the pitch at the San Siro while failing to manage a single shot on target.

Meanwhile, Conte was asked about his future yet again in his post-match press conference and gave an indication over where his heart is.

He said: “I don’t want to talk about the future but as a former Italian national manager people know how much Italy means to me.

“It’s in my heart. I will never exclude the possible idea that I will be back here one day.”
