Anthony Joshua puts Dillian Whyte KO above Wladimir Klitschko as he was rendered unconscious

Anthony Joshua says his knockout of Dillian Whyte stands out for him as he reflected on his career to date.

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion AJ will face Jermaine Franklin in London on April 1 – live on talkSPORT – in his first fight since suffering consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua’s return bout against Franklin will be live on talkSPORT on April 1

Ahead of his latest trip to the squared circle, Joshua sat down with DAZN looked back at some of his knockout wins and picked his top five with Kubrat Pulev, Dominic Breazeale, Charles Martin, Whyte and Wladimir Klitschko on the list.

‘AJ’ got particularly excited while watching himself bring his intense rival with Whyte to an end in round seven of their December 2015 British and Commonwealth title fight.

“Dillian, right hook! Legs looking like jelly,” he said commentating on the action before imagining Whyte’s thoughts.

“‘Where am I? Where am I? Oh, there’s Anthony Joshua coming again. I can’t keep him off.’ Bang, left hook!

“Look, it’s so tough this game. I know I’m having a bit of a laugh with everyone but credit to everyone because it’s one or the other, somebody has got to go and lucky enough for me I was dishing out the punishment rather than receiving it.

“Look at the uppercut, I don’t know why I chose boxing, honestly.”

Joshua also smiled while re-watching the concluding moments of his epic fight with Klitschko before being asked to reveal his favourite KO.

He replied: “I would probably say the Dillian Whyte uppercut because Klitschko was stopped on his feet, the referee jumped in.

“Dillian was rendered unconscious. They had to kind of put him in the recovery position and that’s a conclusive knockout.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn wants to book a rematch between Joshua and Whyte later this year, provided AJ gets by Franklin next weekend.

Whyte hasn’t fought since picking up a controversial majority decision win over Franklin in November after falling short in his bid to win the WBC heavyweight title seven months prior.

Hearn has also expressed an interest in trying to make a fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury, who is currently looking for a new opponent after talks for an undisputed fight with Usyk collapsed.

Big fights and the chance to add more KOs to his highlight reel await but Joshua must first get his career back on track by beating Franklin on Saturday night.
