Gary Payton II (adductor) expected to participate in practice on Saturday

After trading James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons, the Golden State Warriors turned their attention to a familiar face at the trade deadline. The Warriors acquired guard Gary Payton II from the Portland Trail Blazers for five second-round draft picks. However, the official deal stalled after Payton II failed his physical with Golden State.

Despite his failed physical, the Warriors agreed to the four-team deal and the trade was officially processed. Since the trade, Payton has yet to suit up for the Warriors due to a right adductor injury. Payton II last played for the Trail Blazers on Feb. 8.

On Thursday, the Warriors provided an update regarding Payton II’s injury status. According to the Warriors, Payton II is making good practice with his rehab and is expected to practice with the team on Saturday. Following his participation in practice on Saturday, Payton II’s status for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves will be determined.
