‘It’s Erik Seven Hag’ – Jamie Carragher trolls Peter Schmeichel with can of 7 Up after Manchester United’s record loss to Liverpool

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher couldn’t resist giving his Manchester United rival Peter Schmeichel a roasting after their old sides’ headline fixture.

Liverpool incredibly hammered United 7-0 in the Premier League at the weekend, the biggest ever win in the iconic match-up, and United’s worst defeat since 1931.

Liverpool fans are still buzzing over the historic win

The match will go down in English football history, and Carragher was lucky enough to be at Anfield commentating alongside Gary Neville who he used to line-up against in the same fixture.

Sky Sports cameras caught the former Reds centre-back in utter delight as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all bagged two goals before Roberto Firmino made it seven.

Neville already took a drubbing from his colleague during and after the game, and it was Schmeichel’s turn when the two pundits linked up for CBS’ coverage of the Champions League.

Sitting with a can of 7 Up to symbolise the record score, Carragher began tenuously throwing the number into any question directed at the former United goalkeeper.

He said: “Peter, we’re getting to that stage now with the Champions League where we’re getting into March, the seventh of March, for me it feels really important now.

“These games are cut throat, as I said, into March on the seventh, how important does it feel being at the Bridge?”

Schmeichel replied: “Jamie we can’t hear you, we can see that you’re talking but we can’t hear you.”

Carragher tried again: “Jude Bellingham’s there, he’s a superstar, we feel he’s going to move on in the summer, what type of price tag are we talking about? We feel it will have to start with a seven and you go from there.”

And again: “Peter you’re going to be at AC Milan tomorrow, how big a problem would that be if they go out of the Champions League? We are talking about the seven-time winners, I mean seven times winning the Champions League.”

Suddenly the Dane bit, responding: “Oh I see what he’s doing. Are we seven points ahead of you?”

“Don’t worry Peter, we’ve got the 7up,” Carragher replied.

Schmeichel then discussed the record defeat, but couldn’t really explain it.

“It wasn’t great for me, I have to say,” he said. “I’ve been trying to make sense of it, I’ve still got absolutely no idea how that happened.

“Ten Hag said it was embarrassing, unprofessional and it can never happen again, and I hope he’s right.”

Carragher then forced in one final joke before he was stopped.

“You just called him Ten Hag, it’s actually Seven Hag,” he said.
