Novak Djokovic-Rafael Nadal GOAT race will really start now

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou says the GOAT race between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal is “now really starting” after the news that the Serb will be allowed to compete in all four Grand Slams this year. Last year, Djokovic was denied participation at the Australian Open and US Open.

At the start of the 2023 season, Djokovic enjoyed a triumphant return to the Australian Open. According to reports coming from the United States, the Biden Administration will end all emergency COVID-19 measures starting May 11.

“Novak Djokovic will be able to play the 4 GS in 2023. The GOAT race will really start,” Mouratoglou wrote on Twitter.

Mouratoglou: The GOAT race between Djokovic, Nadal now really starting

By winning the Australian Open, Djokovic tied Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam record list with 22 Majors.

The next Grand Slam will be taking in late May and early June at the French Open. After tying Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam record list, Djokovic underlined he “does not want to stop here.” “Of course, I am motivated to win as many slams as possible.

At this stage of my career, these trophies are the biggest motivational factor of why I still compete. That’s the case without a doubt. I never really liked comparing myself to others, but of course, it’s a privilege to be part of the discussion as one of the greatest players of all time.

If people see me this way, of course, it’s very flattering because I know that I give as much effort and energy into trying to win slams as anybody else. I still have lots of motivation. Let’s see how far it takes me. I really don’t want to stop here.

I don’t have any intention to stop here. I feel great about my tennis. I know that when I’m feeling good physically and mentally present, I have a chance to win any slam against anybody,” Djokovic said.
