Tottenham fans heard chanting Mauricio Pochettino’s name after Champions League exit as Jamie O’Hara calls for Antonio Conte to go and former boss to return

Jamie O’Hara believes the time has come for Antonio Conte to leave Tottenham after their Champions League exit against AC Milan.

The talkSPORT host and former Spurs midfielder has also called for Mauricio Pochettino to return for the rest of the season.

Spurs crashed out of the Champions League following a dismal 0-0 draw against AC Milan that also saw Cristian Romero get sent off.

Conte admitted his players weren’t as good as they can be but sent a reminder to fans that the club is playing at a much better standard this term than they were when he first took charge last season.

“If you ask me that in a game like this we were dangerous? No,” Conte said.

“We can do much better offensively. When I speak about offensively, I mean the whole team. I think we can do much better.

“I cant’ say anything about the players commitment. They gave everything on the pitch.

“If I have to see a positive, I see last season when we played the Conference League. We didn’t make it out the group stage last season.

“Now we did a step forward but I think for sure it is not enough. We want to be competitive and to fight.”

They couldn’t overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg, and O’Hara is hoping the north London club bring back fan favourite Pochettino, who was in charge of the club for five years between 2014-19.

Speaking to talkSPORT on The Sports Bar, O’Hara said: “I feel for the Spurs fans there tonight because it was embarrassing. It was a pathetic performance all over the park.

“I think for me now the time has come for Conte to go. He doesn’t look like he wants to be there and the players are not getting what he wants to do.

“I just think put him out of his misery, put everyone out of their misery, get Poch in and move on. Let him have three months until the end of the season to see what he’s got, and then have pre-season and the start of next season and we might get top four.

“There’s no way I can keep watching… I’m actually tired of watching Tottenham, I just want to enjoy watching the team.”

O’Hara isn’t the only one calling for change as a video on social media has shown Spurs fans signing Pochettino’s name after the match.

The Argentine’s return to the club is clearly a desirable prospect for many supporters who are losing faith in Conte.

Spurs’ result against Milan has seen the Italian fail to improve upon his poor record in the Champions League.

Conte has managed four different clubs in the competition (Spurs, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Juventus) during his career, winning just 15 of his 42 matches.

His debut campaign in the Champions League was with Juventus in the 2012/13 season in which they reached the quarter-finals.

It remains to be the furthest he has reached in the competition, with his subsequent seasons having little success.

Juventus were knocked out in the group stage in the following season and during his time at Chelsea, he could only reach the last 16.

Conte spent two seasons at Inter Milan, both of which ended in group stage exits.

Spurs’ exit from the Champions League has also ended their hopes of winning silverware this season, with Conte’s future at the club looking limited.
