November is coming to a close in the hockey world, but before we turn our attention to flying reindeer and carolling, the end of the month gave us a few more stories to dive into:
Swedish Fans Give Borje Salming an Amazing Tribute
The hockey world lost an icon this past week with the passing of Swedish legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Borje Salming at the age of 71 due to ALS.
The tributes have poured in from around the world, but what happened during an SHL game between Brynas and Leksand showed how much he meant to fans. During the second period of the game, fans began chanting his name.
The reverence for the man known as The King is something that you can’t help but be touched by. Rest in peace, Borje.
Who Are the NHL’s Best Supporting at the FIFA Men’s World Cup?
The beautiful game has quite a few fans among the ranks of NHLers, and this past week, a few let it be known who they’re pulling for in Qatar.
To be expected, the powerhouse nations such as Germany, Spain and Brazil got support from the various players. The American and Canadian teams received support, too.
It was a bit funny to hear Max Domi say Italy as his second choice as they failed to qualify for this year’s tournament. He won’t actually have a chance to cheer for them until 2026 – if they make it.
Claude Giroux Calls Game In La La Land
The Ottawa Senators ended their west coast road trip by picking up points in both Anaheim and Los Angeles, but the victory against the Kings saw Claude Giroux finish things off in overtime with probably his nicest goal in a Senators jersey.
No. 28 still knows how to finish in style, but it wouldn’t have happened had it not been for the backhanded breakout pass from Tim Stutzle.
Stutzle’s assist came in a building that could’ve been his home rink had Los Angeles selected him in the 2020 NHL draft instead of Quinton Byfield. He slid to third overall where the Sens scooped him up, and he leads 2020 draftees in points and goals with 109 points and 42 lamp-lighters in 153 games.
