NBA Twitter reacts to the Spurs winning the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery

The San Antonio Spurs won the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft on Tuesday and will have the first opportunity to select 7-foot-4 French phenom Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs entered the draft lottery with a 14% chance of landing the top pick after finishing with a 22-60 record. They won for the third time in franchise history after previously receiving the top pick in 1987 (David Robinson) and 1997 (Tim Duncan).

Wembanyama has drawn high praise from the top names in the sport, from LeBron James to Magic Johnson to Stephen Curry. He has the skill set and ability that is rare in a player his size, which is expected to make him a generational talent.

The celebration commenced immediately upon the conclusion of the draft lottery. The addition of Wembanyama figures to catapult the Spurs back into relevancy in the upper echelon of the league after a four-year playoff drought.

Upon winning the pick, social media erupted with fans and players alike weighing in on the news. Of course, the Spurs faithful were ecstatic with the lottery results while others were not as enthused after missing out on Wembanyama.

Here are some of the best reactions from #NBATwitter.
