Erling Haaland returns home to score for Norway but Scotland heroics leave Martin Odegaard livid

Erling Haaland showed no signs of a hangover from Manchester City’s treble celebrations, but he still couldn’t stop Scotland.

The striker returned to Oslo as a hero after an incredible 52-goal campaign, with Norway hoping he could fire them towards Euro 2024.

Despite only just returning from dancing on top of a bus soaked in champagne as he and his teammates celebrated across the streets of Manchester, he was put straight in Norway’s eleven for a qualifier against Scotland.

After a quiet first half, Haaland was brought down in the area by Scotland’s Ryan Porteous, and blasted the ball in despite Angus Gunn going the right way.

Norway’s first three points of the campaign looked like they might be on their way, but a defensive shambles saw QPR’s Lyndon Dykes equalise with three minutes to play.

Then, two minutes later, Steve Clarke’s side went full Barcelona as John McGinn made the most of a floated Scott McTominay cross.

Finding Dykes on the penalty spot, the striker showed excellent composure to pass a simple lay-off to Kenny McLean who brilliantly slotted home.

The Scottish players and bench went crazy, as Arsenal and Norway captain Martin Odegaard was seen with his head in his hands.

The result means that Scotland continue their perfect start in Group A with three wins from three, while Norway have just a point from the same number of games, despite their smattering of world class superstars.
