Coach Paul Annacone says Roger Federer is “one of the best” when it comes to “not sweating the small stuff” and things that one can’t really control. Between 2010 and 2013, Annacone worked with Swiss tennis icon Federer. During their time together, Annacone got a chance to get to know Federer better and more personally.

On the court, Federer was one of the calmest and coolest players – even in tense and high-pressure moments, the Swiss would remain calm and composed. Off the court, Federer was having the same approach to challenges and adversity, according to Annacone.

Also, Annacone remembers Federer as someone who always wore a smile on his face and tried to keep a positive spirit in every situation.

Annacone on Federer: One of the best at not sweating the small stuff

“One of the things I’ve learned about Roger is, how important it is to be able to let go of things you can’t control and how important it is to be able to really stay in the moment and to be content with trying to execute your game plan even if it’s not successful.

What I mean by that is he’s one of the best people that I’ve ever seen at not sweating the small stuff and not sweating things that he can’t control. Roger’s one of these guys that you could spend all day with.

I mean, what you see is what you get. He loves people, he loves life, he is a citizen of the world – one of the most optimistic people I have been around. And that’s why he can get through these times of adversity right now, you know.

He genuinely still has a smile on his face, and it’s about how fortunate he is and the challenges that are ahead of him. So, man, it’s been a pretty fun road,” Annacone said on the ‘Baseline Intelligence with Jonathan Stokke’ podcast, via Sportskeeda.
