In the wake of the enthusiasm of the European teams in all the challenges (even the junior ones) of the Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup, the two Monty Cup challenges took place in September at Castello Tolcinasco Golf & Spa: ‘The Monty Ladies Cup’ on 8 September – for those who haven’t seen it yet there is the video of the event by Alessandro Bellicini – and on 15 and 16 September ‘The Monty Cup’

Some golfers with disabilities, members of AIDGolf (Italian Association of Disabled Golfers), also participated in both events, in the name of fun and inclusion. The Paralympic national teams Luisa Ceola and Giulia Marabotti, Roberta Bartolomei and myself took part in the challenge between the Red Ladies (and in the end we beat the Pink Ladies…

eh, eh, eh!). Alessandro Petrianni and Cristiano Berlanda were respectively the Captain of Team Europe and the Captain of Team USA in the two days of ‘The Monty Cup’ Also present on Team USA is Paralympic national Edoardo Biagi.

Without any division between disabled golfers and able-bodied golfers. The only difference was the shirt: blue with gold stars, or stars and stripes. Pink Ladies or Red Ladies. Golf is inclusive by nature. And for this we love him even more.

Oh, I forgot, Team USA won – at least here. The Rules of Golf are a set of standard rules and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St.

Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, outside of the United States and Mexico, which are the responsibility of the United States Golf Association. An expert commission made up of members of the R&A and USGA oversees and refines the rules every four years.

The latest revision is effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that in certain cases reduce penalties to ensure balance. The rule book, entitled “Rules of Golf”, is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status.

In Italy it is up to Federgolf to supervise the competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
