Wallaroos star Kaitlan Leaney set to return to Waratahs for Super W

Wallaroos star Kaitlan Leaney is set to return to the NSW Waratahs for the upcoming 2024 Super Rugby W season.

Leaney returns from a stint with the Harlequins in the UK, where she played with her soon-to-be teammates Emily Chancellor and Arabella McKenzie.

After impressive performances in the Pacific Four and WXVI Series for the Wallaroos, Leaney headed back to England for the UK premiership in 2023-24, but will return to Sydney this month to begin her preparations for the new SWR season.

Coach Mick Ruthven is pleased to have Leaney back in blue and believes the back or second-rower and 2023 fan-voted Wallaroos player of the year will bring a great range of skills and experience to the squad.

“Kaitlan will be a vastly experienced player within our group,” Ruthven said.

“She will bring her knowledge and experience from two previous seasons in the UK premiership with the Harlequins, and I’m sure she will provide a positive impact on our playing group.

“She is a dynamic player with a strong skill-set and we are pleased to see her back in a Tahs jersey.”
