In pursuit of a third consecutive victory on the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler took the opportunity to break a PGA Tour record Thursday during the first round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open. On Sunday, if successful at Memorial Park, world number 1 Scottie Scheffler will join Dustin Johnson or Rory McIlroy in the history of the American tour, the last players before him to have managed to win three times in a row on the PGA Round.

On May 26, 2019, Scheffler displayed an outstanding performance by firing a bogey-free, 9-under 63, including playing the back nine in just 30 strokes, to force a playoff with 54-hole leader Marcelo Rozo in the Evans Scholars Invitational.
He clinched victory by birdieing the second extra hole, marking his first Web.com Tour win. Later that year, on August 18, 2019, Scheffler secured another significant win at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
He posted a 4-under 67 in the final round at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course, finishing two shots clear with a total score of 12-under 272 for the week. This victory, part of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, helped Scheffler lead both the Finals points list and the overall points list, thereby earning him a fully exempt PGA Tour card for the 2020 season.
Subsequently, he was honored as the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year. In August 2020, Scheffler continued to make waves on the PGA Tour by tying for fourth place at the 2020 PGA Championship, earning $528,000 in prize money.
Just days later, on August 21, 2020, Scheffler achieved a remarkable feat by shooting a 12-under 59 at The Northern Trust. His round was only the 12th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history and tied for the second-lowest score ever recorded on the Tour.
