Al-Nassr want to follow up Cristiano Ronaldo arrival with Sergio Busquets transfer as ambitious Saudi Arabia club target big-name signings

Al-Nassr are eyeing a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets after tying up the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the Nou Camp this summer and Al-Nassr want to make him the next high-profile addition to their squad.

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is firmly in the sights of Al-Nassr

According to ESPN, the Saudi club is prepared to offer the Spaniard around £11.5million per season after tax to lure him to the Middle East.

But Al-Nassr may not get a free crack at Busquets with David Beckham’s Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami also interested in the midfielder, who previously admitted he was attracted to the idea of playing in the United States.

The report states Busquets and his representatives have been in talks with the MLS side for months but no agreement is in place yet.

An extension of his Barcelona contract has not been entirely ruled out either, despite the club’s ongoing financial constraints.

The Catalan giants are facing a challenge to bring in reinforcements and may opt to tie down Busquets for a further six months, at least.

Earlier this month, Barcelona boss Xavi said: “He has a contract until June and will stay until the end of that and then we will see.

“It will then depend how he ends the season, but I think it’s more of a personal decision for him, based on his feelings and how he feels on the pitch.

“For me, he is still important. We will try to convince him [to stay] if things go well, but it will depend on his personal decision. We are focused on this season for now. There is a lot to play for and we can’t make plans for June when we are 100% focused on this campaign.”

Busquets has spent his entire career at Barcelona and could make his 700th appearance for the club in this week’s Supercopa semi-final against Betis.

He has picked up eight LaLiga titles and three Champions League crowns during a trophy-laden career, in which he has also lifted the World Cup and European Championship trophies with Spain.
