Vanderbilt women’s team defeat by Stanford 4-2

The Vanderbilt University women’s tennis team lost their last game 4-2 against Stanford, in Seattle. Dores will be back in action against UCF on 17 February 2023 at the Currey Tennis Pavilion at the Lummis Family Tennis Center.

Freshman Bridget Stammel put the Dores on the board with her straight set victory. Anessa Lee improved to 11-0 in singles after winning the 5-court match. Head coach Aleke Tsoubanos said: “It’s tough again today but this is the level of tennis we were expecting all weekend.

We regrouped and had chances in most of the singles matches but lost some close first sets , and I think Stanford played well in those games. Anessa and Bridget were outstanding in singles, picking up those points for us. This is a tough tournament, but the experience of playing these games early in the season will be invaluable to us.

moving forward as we wrap up non-conference play over the next couple of weekends”.
