Air Fryer Sweet Potato – A Beautiful Mess

Making a baked sweet potato in an air fryer is probably one of the easiest vegetable side dishes you could make.

It takes less time than baking in the oven, plus it heats up your kitchen less than turning your oven on (a huge bonus in the summer months for me!). Add this air fryer sweet potato to our HUGE air fryer archive.

Air fryer sweet potatoes taste basically the same as an oven baked sweet potato. The only real different is the peel (or jacket) will be crispier. So, if you tend to eat the skin of a baked potato, then make this in the air fryer!

Ingredients

  • Sweet potato
  • Oil – I like olive oil
  • Salt

Directions

First, wash off the potato. Even store-bought sweet potatoes can sometimes still have dirt or debris on them. Use a fork to poke holes in the skin of the sweet potato. Brush oil on the skin and place in the air fryer basket. Then, sprinkle with a little salt.

Air fry at 375°F for 35-40 minutes. You can check for doneness by how easily you can insert a knife into the sweet potato.

While the potato is still hot, slice down the center and open wide. Add butter, salt, pepper, or any other fixings you want.
