The highly anticipated new tennis season is about to begin and the Australian Open 2024 will be a sensational event, bringing together all the best tennis players on the planet under one roof. To prepare for the Melbourne Major, many tennis players will participate in an ATP 250 or 500 tournament, to get a feel for the fast courts of the Australians and prepare as much as possible to adapt more to the playing conditions.

However, there are some players who have decided not to take part in any official event in view of the Melbourne tournament, arriving on January 14th (the start date of the Slam) without even an official match, including some serious candidates for success the final.

In fact, there are four exceptions in the top-50. If Novak Djokovic is at the United Cup and Rafael Nadal’s return is expected at the ATP 250 in Brisbane, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner and Stan Wawrinka will not play any previous tournaments.

The Spaniard has only one exhibition match scheduled with Djokovic in Riyadh on December 27, while Medvedev will take more time off to train but without playing any matches.

As for Jannik Sinner, the Italian, on whom the spotlight is focused after the amazing season finale, decided not to risk any last minute physical problems, arriving at the Australian Slam in top form. Similar speech for the 38 year old Swiss, who has decided not to register for any of the five tournaments preceding the first Major of the season.

The Australian Open 2024, the first appointment with great tennis, will excite fans from the first days of January. In preparation for the first slam of the year, the protagonists of the ATP circuit are already training to get to the top.

From Djokovic to Nadal, everyone is focused and with a well-defined approach plan, with some of the preparation tournaments that will see a lot of stars playing on the Australian hard-courts. We recall, apart Rafael Nadal, there will be other much awaited come back on the Australian hard-courts, like Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, Emma Raducanu and Nick Kyrgios.
