Having already secured Europa League football, several players have been linked with departures this summer.

Mac Allister is one of them with Liverpool the keenest suitors while Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be interested.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign a new midfielder to reinvigorate his side and Mac Allister ticks all the boxes.

As Mac Allister made his way toward the tunnel, he applauded the away fans, who chanted at him.

He had to be consoled by his teammates as he broke into tears before getting even more emotional when down the tunnel. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi hugged the player.

Mac Allister could be joined by Caicedo out the exit door at the Amex Stadium, the Italian admitting as much in his post-match interview.

He said after the match: “I think it can be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

“It is right that they can leave, they can play at a higher level.”

Brighton have had a sensational season as they finished sixth in the Premier League, meaning they will play in Europe for the first time in their history next season.

Among the key players this year, Mac Allister has had his best year as a professional star.

The 24-year-old has scored ten Premier League goals this season and also helped Argentina to World Cup glory.

His father, Carlos Mac Allister, revealed that his son could leave Brighton this summer.

“For now, he is at Brighton,” he said earlier this season.

“It seems to me a very good thing that he has returned from the World Cup and has not despaired about leaving, enjoying success calmly and in peace, in a team that loves him very much.

“The reception he received has been the best. He is very well in the club.

“We all know that in July there will be possibilities to be able to leave.

“But prior to the World Cup, Alexis renewed his contract so that the club also has the opportunity of an important transfer, so that a lot can reach Brighton. It is the idea.”
