Parade of stars on the occasion of the All-Star Match which will precede the 44th edition of the Ryder Cup, scheduled from September 27th in the evocative setting of the ‘Marco Simone Golf & Country Club’ in Rome. Many famous faces will attend the eagerly awaited event: let’s discover them together.

Ryder Cup, all the stars present

In fact, some of the greatest interpreters of sport will be present: from Novak Djokovic to former AC Milan champion Andriy Shevchenko up to Carlos Sainz and Gareth Bale.

There will also be Leonardo Fioravanti, an Italian surfer who has already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and Kathryn Newton, a Hollywood actress. In fact, ‘Team Monty’, captained by the Scot Colin Montgomerie, and ‘Team Pavin’ led by the American Corey Pavin, leading Team Europe and Team USA respectively at the 2010 Ryder Cup, will compete.

In the Celebrity Match, Montgomerie will take to the field alongside Bale in a doubles match that will see them opposed to the Pavin-Shevchenko pair. Then it will be the turn of YouTuber Garrett Hilbert and Fioravanti who will face Newton and Victor Cruz, former American football champion.

The ”match 1” will instead pit Djokovic and Sainz: the Belgrade champion will join the Paralympic golfer Kipp Popert while the Ferrari driver will seek triumph with his teammate Tommaso Perrino, coach of the Paralympic national team of the Italian Golf Federation. The competition, named after the trophy donated by Englishman Samuel Ryder (1858–1936) to the American federation in 1924, is co-managed by the European Tour and the PGA of America. From 1927 to 1971 the tournament took place between the selection of the United States and that of Great Britain, with a clear American dominance (15-3) and only one draw.

Ireland was incorporated into Great Britain in 1973 and the rest of continental Europe in 1979. Following the acceptance of the European team as an antagonist of the US team, the tournament was much more balanced: from 1979 to 2018, in fact, there were eleven successes for Europe, eight for the United States and only one draw.
