Carlos Alcaraz pays touching tribute to ‘hero’ Rafael Nadal

Carlos Alcaraz says he is hoping to emulate his “hero” Rafael Nadal and go down as one of the best players in tennis history. Nadal, 37, is a 22-time Grand Slam champion and widely considered one of the greatest players in tennis history.

Alcaraz, who turned 20 in May, is widely tipped to do great things in the game and also one day go down as one of the greatest players in tennis history. At just 20, Alcaraz is already a two-time Grand Slam champion and last year he also became the youngest world No 1 in tennis history.“I want to be one of the best tennis players in history.

Being in the same table as the legend Rafa. He was my hero when I was young, when I started playing tennis. I used to watch his matches, finals, and lifting the best trophies in the world. For me, Rafa was my hero growing up,” Alcaraz said in Cincinnati.

Nadal sent a special message to Alcaraz after Wimbledon

Shortly after Alcaraz’s Wimbledon final win over Novak Djokovic, Nadal reacted by sharing a congratulatory message to the 20-year-old Spaniard.“Congratulations @carlosalcaraz.

You have given us immense joy today and I am sure that our pioneer in Spanish tennis, Manolo Santana, has also been cheering wherever he is, such as Wimbledon whom you have joined today. A very strong hug and enjoy the moment, Champion!!!” Nadal wrote on social media after Alcaraz’s Wimbledon win. When Alcaraz was asked about congratulatory messages that stuck out to him, he mentioned Nadal first.

“Rafa’s, whenever he congratulates you, Rafa makes you especially excited because in the end he is your idol. I was also congratulated by Fernando Alonso, who is someone I admire,” Alcaraz said.Alcaraz is off to a highly-impressive start to his career and many expect him to do many more great things before he walks away from pro tennis.
