Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s transfers at Stamford Bridge ranked out of 10 from £60m fourth choice left-back Marc Cucurella to Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Antonio Rudiger replacement Kalidou Koulibaly

Chelsea have had a torrid season in Todd Boehly’s first year as owner despite all his splashing out in the transfer market.

Since the American billionaire took over along with investment firm Clearlake Capital, more than £300million has been spent on transfers for both the senior and development teams.

But Chelsea have had a nightmare season

That has included some high-profile names such as Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kalidou Koulibaly while emerging talents, including Carney Chukwuemeka, have also arrived.

However, the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel as manager and some shocking form has seen the Blues crash down to tenth in the Premier League table and ten points off the top four.

Exits from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup means the Champions League is their only chance of silverware this season.

The likes of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Mykhailo Mudryk have only just signed, and would be too early to judge their impact but hopes are high for all four after a busy January.

Fans are also set to have Christopher Nkunku to look forward to next season, with RB Leipzig director Max Eberl telling Bild TV: “The signs are very, very clear that he’s moving to Chelsea.”

But what about those who have had a chance to prove their worth?

Raheem Sterling (£60m) – 6/10

Chelsea were hailed for signing Sterling in July, the England star becoming a reliable goal-getter at Manchester City, who boasts plenty of Premier League experience.

But it has not quite worked out for the England international, who has scored just six in 22 appearances – though that does make him the club’s joint-top highest goalscorer this season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10m) – 2/10

Thomas Tuchel brought in his former player at Borussia Dortmund on September 2, however, the sacking of the German just a week later appears to have had an effect on Aubameyang’s Blues career.

The ex-Arsenal star has not scored since October 11 and has been linked with a free transfer back to Barcelona.

Kalidou Koulibaly (£33m) – 4/10

When Chelsea lost Antonio Rudiger, the arrival of Senegal captain Koulibaly from Napoli was earmarked as a fine replacement. But halfway through the season he’s struggled to reach the same heights.

The centre-back has struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League and has been dribbled past more than any other central defender for the Blues (19).

Wesley Fofana (£72m) – 1/10

It might be harsh to give Fofana such a low score considering he has spent most of the season injured but after joining for the biggest fee in the summer of £72m on August 31, it’s been a hugely disappointing start for the French centre-back, who has just six appearances under his belt.

Time will tell if the ex-Leicester ace can return to fitness and fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge, however.

Marc Cucurella (£60m) – 2/10

Cucurella has had a tough debut season at Chelsea

It has baffled many how Cucurella, who cost around £60m, looks completely lost in this Chelsea team, especially considering his old boss at Brighton, where he looked formidable, Potter is in charge of Chelsea.

But Lewis Hall has since taken up the role as main left-back while Koulibaly was sent on to replace him against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

With Ben Chilwell out injured, that might mean that Cucurella is currently fourth choice left-back.

Carney Chukwuemeka (£20m) – 7/10

All the signs point to the midfielder looking quite the acquisition after some bright spells off the bench for the Blues this campaign.

The 19-year-old has enormous talent and is also a Chelsea fan, arriving from Villa in August, and Potter might have an absolute gem on his hands if he can develop him well.

Joao Felix (£11m loan) – 7/10 then an abrupt 2/10

It was all going so well on Felix’s debut for Chelsea. Just a day after arriving from Atletico Madrid on loan, he looked threatening every time he went forward against Fulham, providing some much needed spark in Chelsea’s attack.

But then he got sent off… for a wild poorly timed challenge and Chelsea went on to lose to their west London rivals.

The on-loan star’s three-match suspension is estimated to have cost an estimated £3m.

Denis Zakaria: (Loan) – 6/10

It took some time for the Swiss international to convince Potter that he was worthy of a starting spot after arriving from Juventus on loan but some decent performances saw him get the nod eventually.

However, disaster struck against Fulham in the most unfortunate way when he suffered an injury just as he looked to find his flow and has been ruled out for a month.
