Cori Gauff is going to win her first Grand Slam pretty soon

Tracy Austin believes Cori Gauff will “pretty soon” become a Grand Slam champion. Gauff, 18, is already a Grand Slam finalist and has been ranked as high as No 4 in the world. Last year, Gauff made the French Open final before losing to Iga Swiatek.

Gauff’s big goal in 2023 is to go just a step further and become a Grand Slam champion. “If Coco was a stock, I’m gonna buy. Coco’s gonna win her first Major pretty soon. (The) most important thing we need to remember is she is only 18.

We’ve seen such great improvement in her game,” Austin said, per Sportskeeda.

Austin tips Gauff to soon win a Grand Slam

Gauff wasn’t hiding that her goal at the Australian Open was to win her first Grand Slam.

After winning her first three matches in straight sets, Gauff suffered a surprise 7-5 6-3 defeat to Jelena Ostapenko in the round-of-16. “I think it’s (feeling of frustration) because I worked really hard, and I felt really good coming into the tournament, and I still feel good.

Like, I still feel like I’ve improved a lot. But, you know, when you play a player like her and she plays really well, it’s like, you know, there’s nothing you can do,” Gauff said after losing to Ostapenko. Gauff didn’t hide her disappointment after losing to Ostapenko and admitted that it was just one of those days.

“I mean, there was moments in the match where I was getting frustrated because I normally can problem-solve, but today I feel like I didn’t have much answers to what she was doing. There was balls I was hitting deep, and she was hitting them on the line and hitting them back deep, like, over and over again.

It’s just one of those days that just didn’t go my way and went her way,” Gauff said. It remains to be seen if Gauff can go all the way at this year’s French Open.
