Danny Murphy hailed the positional change of Trent Alexander-Arnold after Liverpool’s emphatic victory over Leeds United.
The Reds ran riot, thrashing their Yorkshire opponents 6-1 at Elland Road on Monday night.
Alexander-Arnold certainly impressed for Jurgen Klopp’s troops, and pulled the string throughout in midfield.
Having struggled at right-back for much of the campaign, the 24-year-old has since shifted to a fluid midfield role.
Such positional change means the scouser is able to get on the ball more, and interestingly, he made the most successful passes ever in his career (124).
Out of 136 attempts, he found his target with 124, with a pass accuracy of 91.2 per cent, only bettered by Virgil van Dijk (96.5 per cent) and Alisson (91.3 per cent).
Alexander-Arnold was on the ball 156 times, 92-times more than the most involved Leeds player, defender Rasmus Kristensen.
Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy was impressed with the Reds star, and loved watching him play in his midfield role.
“I think the criticism he has received, and I have been somebody who has certainly picked up on his weaknesses recently,” he told talkSPORT.
“Trent, tonight, the second game he has played in that role, I have loved it.
“I loved watching it, I love his bravery, he is always prepared to make mistakes, I think he has had two assists today, maybe three.
“Two or three assists, and he hits passes, and sees passes on the pitch that other midfielders do. That is why Jurgen Klopp is trying to find a place for him in there.
“We will see how that adaptation evolves, in terms of Ibrahima Konate getting caught sometimes. But I thought it was as good as I have seen Trent in a long-time.
“He looked happy and his body language was good. He carried on running the game. The pass for the last goal, what a great pass, nobody hits that pass.”
Post-match Klopp explained the change of position for Trent, having been impressed with his talisman.
“He won the ball back for the first goal from that position, really stepping out,” he told reporters.
“It was good. Impressive. I think the highlight was the last pass [for Nunez], but he had a few more from that position.
“Wherever Trent is, he can be decisive with his passes. He was this very often for us, that’s how it is.
“Tonight was a good game. You could see that he enjoyed!”
