David de Gea has dropped another cryptic tweet after his Manchester United contract expired.
The Spaniard’s future remains up in the air after his contract expired at Old Trafford on June 30.
De Gea is technically a free agent, but United have remained in talks with their long-standing No.1 over a possible new deal.
It is understood De Gea signed fresh terms before his old contract expired, only for the Red Devils to retract their offer.
Now, his future at United appears to depend on the club’s pursuit of Andre Onana.
However, the 32-year-old appears to be in the dark as much as everyone else.
He took to Twitter to simply post an emoji of a juggler, perhaps indicating that the fiasco has become something of a circus.
It is not entirely clear what De Gea’s tweet means, but it is the latest in a string of cryptic messages.
The shot-stopper tweeted a yawning emoji on June 28 and then wrote ‘life is beautiful’ on July 1.
United have been interested in signing Inter Milan’s Onana this summer and are in talks with the Italian club.
The Red Devils believe that a package deal worth a total of £45m will be enough to entice the Nerazzurri into selling the Cameroon international.
Erik ten Hag is keen on a goalkeeper that can play out from the back and is good with his feet, something that cannot be strictly said of De Gea.
The former Atletico Madrid star is a brilliant shot-stopper and has been United’s hero on numerous occasions.
No one has won the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award more than De Gea, who has lifted four of them, drawing level with Cristiano Ronaldo.
More will follow.
