Emma Raducanu revealed a funny conversation with King Charles III as the King asked the 2021 US Open champion about her coaching situation. In late 2022, Raducanu visited Windsor Castle to receive an MBE from King Charles.
After winning the 2021 US Open, Raducanu was honored by the late Queen Elizabeth in the 2022 New Year Honor List. In 2022 November, King Charles awarded Raducanu with an MBE for services to tennis. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Raducanu revealed a small detail from her visit to Windsor Castle.
“So, have you found a coach?” Raducanu recalled being asked by King Charles III.
Raducanu seraching for a new coach
On June 1st, Raducanu announced she and coach Sebastian Sachs were splitting after six months together. By moving on from Sachs, Raducanu split with five different coaches in the last year.
In early May, Raducanu had multiple surgeries and the Briton indicated that her being out for an extended period played a role in their separation. “I have really enjoyed Seb’s coaching and working with him, it’s unfortunate that circumstances made it unfeasible for both of us to continue right now and we have decided to part ways.
I wish Seb all the best moving forwards,” Raducanu announced on June 1st. While Raducanu is recovering from multiple surgeries, she has been advised by former British No 1 Tim Henman to use this time to address her team staff situation.
“From Emma’s point of view, she’s had these three surgeries, she’s going to be out of the game for some time. It’s a really good opportunity for her to get that structure right. That includes a tennis coach, a physio and a fitness trainer.
Hopefully, that’s something she will implement so when she is ready to come back and work on her game he’s got a good team around her,” Henman told Metro.
