Francesca Fiorellini, with an excellent performance, finished in fourth place with 283 (72 72 68 71,-1) in the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, the individual European Championship played on the Tegelberga Golfklubb course (par 71), at Trelleborg in Sweden.

The Spanish women dominated, taking the title with Julia Lopez Ramirez (276 – 70 76 63 67, -8) and silver with Carla Bernat Escuder (278, – 6). The bronze went to Swedish Ingrid Lindblad (279, -5), who won in 2021.

Francesca Fiorellini started in 21st place and came close to the podium passing through 14th and seventh.

The blue finished on a par with Helen Briem, whom she beat this year at the International Championships of Italy where the German was defending the title achieved in 2021. In sixth position with 284 (par) two strong competitors indicated on the eve among the favorites , the Iberian Rocio Tejedo Mulet and the French Vairana Heck, and in eighth place with 285 (+1) the Scottish Hannah Darling, the French Adela Cernousek, the Irish Beth Coulter and two other Spaniards, Carolina Lopez-Chacarra Coto and Carla Tejedo Mulets.In the middle of the standings Carolina Melgrati, 25th with 289 (71 73 78 67, +5), on a par with the Belgian Savannah De Bock, defending champion, and further back Alessia Nobilio, 48th with 295 (77 74 71 73, +11), and Anna Zanusso, 52nd with 297 (73 77 71 76, +13).They did not pass the cut after 54 holes Caterina Don, 84th with 227 (+14), Matilde Partele, 103rd with 230 (+17), and Paris Appendino, 142nd with 247 (+34).The Azzurri were assisted by Roberto Zappa, Head Coach of the Women’s National Amateur Team, and by their coach Stefano Sardi.The Italians have won the race four times, dominating in a golden four-year period with the titles of Silvia Cavalleri (1996,1997), Giulia Sergas (1998) and Sophie Sandolo (1999), who had finished second the previous year by conquering the only Italian silver.

Among the winners of the past, in addition to the blue ones, who have had or are having a good career as a project the Belgian Florence Descampe, the Swedes Maria Hjorth and Caroline Hedwall, the Spanish Carlota Ciganda and the French Celine Boutier.The Ladies European Tour is a professional women’s golf tour founded in 1978.

Based at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club, near London, it is mainly dedicated to European female players with tournaments taking place on five different continents (Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa and North America).The first edition of the tournament dates back to 1979. The most successful golfer is the English Laura Davies, winner of 45 tournaments on the Ladies European Tour.
