There will be, at the end of this week, a very particular event. This is the Grant Thornton Invitational 2023, which is played jointly with men and women on the same course, located at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

First of all, we start on Friday with the scramble system. This is a type of game in which each golfer hits their own ball from the tee shot, then the couple chooses a ball to play for the next shot and both play from there.

The process continues until you reach the hole. Saturday, however, will see the classic foursomes, the ones we have observed in the Ryder Cup since it was born. Only one ball is played and the golfers hit it alternately. One half of the pair will hit the tee shot on the even holes, the other on the odd ones.

On Sunday, however, there will be a variant of the fourball. Both golfers will hit from the tee shot, then exchange the ball from the second shot and continue with that until it goes into the hole. The lower of the scores between the two partners is then counted as the team score for the hole.

These are the couples we will see over the weekend: Madelene Sagström-Ludvig Åberg
Allisen Corpuz-Cameron Champ
Brooke Henderson-Corey Conners
Lilia Vu-Joel Dahmen
Lydia Ko-Jason Day
Céline Boutier-Harris English
Nelly Korda-Tony Finau
Lexi Thompson-Rickie Fowler
Leona Maguire-Lucas Glover
Mel Reid-Russell Henley
Cheyenne Knight-Tom Hoge
Andrea Lee-Billy Horschel
Megan Khang-Denny McCarthy
Charley Hull-Justin Rose
Ruoning Yin-Nick Taylor
Rose Zhang-Sahith Theegala The Rules of Golf are a set of standard rules and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played.

They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, outside of the United States and Mexico, which are the responsibility of the United States Golf Association.

An expert commission made up of members of the R&A and USGA oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision is effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that in certain cases reduce penalties to ensure balance.

The rule book, entitled “Rules of Golf”, is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy it is up to Federgolf to supervise the competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
