‘I’ll come back stronger’ – Ryan Garcia calls for rematch with Gervonta Davis on Instagram after suffering seventh-round body shot KO defeat

Ryan Garcia is already eyeing a future rematch with Gervonta Davis.

‘KingRy’ suffered a KO defeat to his long-time rival who caught him with a vicious body shot in the seventh round of their grudge match in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

It was the first loss of Garcia’s career and one he is already determined to get back based on his social media activity following the defeat that saw him drop to 23-1 as a professional boxer.

“Obviously, I’m disappointed after the fight. I tried my best, he caught me with a good body shot,” he said in a video posted to Instagram.

“I’ll come back stronger and hopefully one day after I rack up a couple of wins, we can do a rematch at maybe 140 or 147lbs.

“Thank you, guys, for all the support, love you guys.”

While Garcia suffered his first career loss, things could’ve been even worse.

Ahead of the highly anticipated pay-per-view bout, he and Davis agreed to a winner takes all wager that was set to see the loser walk away from the biggest fight of their life empty-handed.

However, with no contract signed to legalise things, ‘Tank’ opted against trying to take Garcia’s purse and told media members ‘He can keep it’ when asked about the bet during his post-fight press conference.

After stretching his perfect record to 29-0 in a catchweight 136lb fight with Garcia, Davis is expected to return to lightweight where big fights are waiting for him.

All four major 135lb titles will be on the line when undisputed champion Devin Haney, and two-time Olympic gold medallist Vasyl Lomachenko square off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 20.

‘Tank’ could face the winner of that bout for all the lightweight marbles or look to test himself against the division’s newest contender Shakur Stevenson or former unified champion George Kambosos Jr.

As for Garcia, he seems set to move back up to super-lightweight.

The 24-year-old is already ranked in the WBC and IBF top 15 at 140lbs and will now look to get back in the win column before deciding which title he wants to target.

Regis Prograis, Teofimo Lopez, Josh Taylor, Jack Catterall, and Ohara Davies are just some of the fighters he could be matched up with at the weight over the next few years.
