Injured Australia spinner Nathan Lyon was given a standing ovation for hobbling out to bat against England at Lord’s on Saturday.
Lyon was forced off the field on Thursday after suffering a significant calf strain which could rule him out for the rest of the Ashes.
However, despite arriving at the ground on crutches, the Aussie veteran defied the pain to bat at No.11 for Pat Cummins’ side in their second innings.
Footage captured Lyon struggling to make it down the pavilion steps before limping out to the middle.
He was given a standing ovation by fans of both England and Australia.
Applause quickly turned to laughter as Lyon pulled a Ben Stokes delivery into the leg side but couldn’t complete a run.
Moments later, Lyon hopped up the other end to complete a tight single and nearly fell to the ground.
More will follow.
