‘It’s a dream come true’

Boxing legend Mike Tyson has revealed it is a ‘dream come true’ after opening his first coffee shop in Amsterdam.

Since hanging up his gloves, the 56-year-old has created a cannabis empire, where he is the proud owner of a 40-acre weed ranch in California.

Tyson has revealed it is a ‘dream come true’ to open a store in the Netherlands

The former heavyweight champion revealed in 2020 how he smokes around £33,000 worth of weed per month after getting into the marijuana business in 2016.

Tyson announced in November how he had teamed up with former rival Evander Holyfield to sell cannabis edibles, which pays homage to the infamous ear bite in their 1997 rematch.

Every ‘Holy Ear’ has a chunk missing to represent the piece of Holyfield’s actual ear which Tyson bit off – resulting in the latter being disqualified.

And ‘Iron Mike’ has now expanded his empire into Europe where he has launched a coffee shop in the capital city of the Netherlands.

Doors are now open at Coffeeshop Tyson 2.0, which is located on Spuistraat 222 – walking distance from the famous Red Light District.

And being the diligent owner that Tyson is, the American has insisted he has ‘tried and tested’ all the products available in the store.

Commenting on his new venture in a press release, Tyson said: “It’s a dream come true to open our first coffee shop in Amsterdam.

“The Coffeeshop Tyson 2.0 will immerse fans in a full-on experience where they can enjoy my favorite Tyson 2.0 products the way I do.

“I’ve tried and tested all of them, and I can’t wait to share some of my most beloved and undefeated goods with Europe.”

Adam Wilks, CEO of Tyson 2.0, added: “Amsterdam is a city with a deeply rich culture that has transformed it into one of the world’s premiere destinations with over 18 million tourists visiting every year.

“Coffee shop Tyson 2.0 celebrates our journey and marks a significant milestone for the company as we extend our international presence beyond North America into the burgeoning European market.

“We look forward to introducing the Tyson 2.0 brand and lifestyle to Amsterdam and servicing our European fans with the industry-leading products we’re known for.”

Tyson then took to social media where he shared two snaps of the swanky establishment on the coffee shop’s Instagram page.

He remarked: “It is official! Coffee shop Tyson is finally open in Amsterdam, and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for!”

Guests at Tyson’s coffee shop will be able to puff away at their pleasure, with recreational use of marijuana inside the stores being legal in Holland since 1976.

Though those wishing to visit Tyson’s business won’t be allowed to smoke on the streets of the Red Light District as outdoor use will be illegal from May.
